This is part of a Lizzie Kate April Flip-it
This is the other half of the April Flip-it. I was cruising around the web and found that needlepoint sites have fabulous finishing ides. I decided to use a cookie cutter for my tulip. As needlepoint canvas is pretty much preshaped, stiff and all they need to do is cut the piece out.
 Lizzie Kate Chicks Rule

May starts with a kiss. Another finishing idea from the needlepoint canvas sites.
I used a rose from an old leisure arts book. Stitched random vines to fill in the blanks and added Mill Hill beads. The pucker in the front did not show up UNTIL i had stuffed and sewn the thing together. Mom said she doesn't mind a bit!
bottom I used a matt board circle, glued batting and covered with cotton fabric.
 Back seam
Three projects in one. I plotted and planed this for a month. The board is from Walmart and measures 16 inches by 20 inches. The metal mermaid is a hobby lobby sale find. The teal colored "sand" is crushed marble. I smeared hot glue on my board and pressed the sand in. The stitched pieces are all Hands On Designs To The Beach series.
The flowers are Ellen Maurer S monthly freebie and The Blues are Valerie Pfiffer design. All the little birdies had been framed in ugly brown ones. I had stitched them years ago, before my flat ornament days. They have been "rehomed" as flats
